September has seen Containers Direct busy converting second hand shipping containers into great quality, convenient to use 15ft storage containers. As part of the conversion process we are able to offer our clients a number of different features to choose from, focused on the doors, so take a look at our innovative new features on our 15ft containers, carefully designed to suit a range of different requirements.

The quality of a shipping container simply cannot be matched when it comes to dependability (waterproof, rustproof and theft proof), so we use these as a basis for our storage containers. In our own workshops we cut large 40ft shipping containers down into 15ft units, which then need completing with a new door, or a new end wall. As we can complete the container in three different ways, we ask our clients ordering cut down storage containers to choose which door type they would prefer. To give you a guide to the suitability of each, read on.

15FT S1 CONTAINERS have new doors fitted, designed to be easy to use by everybody. As shipping containers are made from steel, you can imagine how heavy the doors are to use, especially if you are going to be requiring regular access to your storage. This problem is solved by reducing the bulk of the doors, by using much flatter panels. Still made from steel, they maintain a good level of theft deterrence.

S2 CONTAINERS – instead of making new doors we retain the door end of the container during the cutting stage, and weld on a new blank end wall instead. This leaves a container with the original shipping container door. These are preferred by some clients, especially in the building trade, for their solidness and the inclusion of a water repellent rubber seal around the entrance.

15FT S3 CONTAINERS will give you the best features of the other two door types and are unique to Containers Direct. Using the slim line steel doors we include rubber seals to make your container doors easy to use and water repellent. These doors are a popular choice for the storage of goods that are easily affected by moisture, such as household contents, textiles, cardboard and paper. For the storage of such items you may want to consider requesting an anti condenstation coating of grafotherm too.

Security levels are not compromised with either choice of door, as we include a protective lockable box to encase the door lock. Padlocks to give the perfect fit for these lock boxes can be bought from Containers Direct.

Included in the price of all 15ft S1, S2 and S3 containers is a complete respray in your chosen colour of rubberised container paint, which improves both appearance and lifespan.
