16ft SIDE DOOR CONTAINERS SECOND HAND

Standard shipping containers are made with the doors situated at the narrow end of its body, so they require the container to be positioned with this front end facing outwards. However, when used as a storage unit front doors do not always suit the space restrictions on some sites, so Containers Direct have come up with a range of side door containers, which enable you to position your container on site with the long side facing out.

Constructing side door containers

Our 16ft side door containers are fabricated from large sized, good quality second hand shipping containers, as these make the strongest storage containers on the market. We cut down them to a produce a length of 16ft, and for side door containers then cut into the long side of the container to position a newly constructed door. We offer our clients a choice of door types, which are categorised as S1 or S3 containers.

Please note cut down containers are not suitable for shipping, stacking or lifting when loaded. They can be modified upon request if these conditions are required.

S1 Side door containers

S1 containers have doors fitted that are specially designed with storage use in mind. They are made from a flat metal panel, which is different from the heavier corrugated type used on shipping containers, so they are comparatively lightweight and therefore suited to frequent use. To maintain the security of the container they are made from steel with a single lockable arm that is covered by a padlockable metal box. Container quality padlocks can be purchased for the lock box from Containers Direct.

Cost £1965 plus VAT

We can add a compressed door seal to S1 containers for a cost of £65 plus VAT

S3 Side door containers

At Containers Direct we offer a unique third option which combines the advantages of both types of door. We are lucky to have manufacturing facilities on site and have designed and manufactured a door which is both easy to use and is superior in quality. Although the appearance of S3 doors may differ slightly from container to container, they all share these characteristics:
  • New/once-used

  • External rubber door seals

  • Waist high handles

  • Two locking arms on the right hand door only

  • Shoot bolts on the left hand door

Additional doors - positioned on the opposite side of the container, or on either end. Tunnel containers have doors at both ends. If you require an end door we can leave the original shipping container door in place during the cutting down process. These are corrugated steel doors with a rubber seal, and are categorised as S2 container doors. Or we can fit either type of storage door.
